Why Leadership Is Important

How does your leadership style impact your employees?

Leadership has many moving parts and the art and science of linking these parts is when the real leadership ‘magic’ happens. Employees don’t quit on a company. They often quit because of a leader. Employees want their managers to help them grow their careers – and if bosses don’t step up, they leave. What are you doing to grow yourself as a leader and to understand how to read the signs that your employees are leaving because of their lack of engagement at work?

Why Do Employees Leave?

There is a lot of research out there to support that as many as 67% of employees are not engaged at work. Here are a list of some of the top reasons why employees quit their job. What are you doing as a leader to become more aware of how you can positively influence your emplyees to get engaged and stay?

  • Lack of appreciation

  • Lack of recognition of employee job performance

  • They feel their work doesn't contribute to the organisation’s business goals

  • Bored and unchallenged by the work itself

Invest In Yourself

To help you improve your leadership, you need to know that you need to lead yourself first (apply the oxygen mask to yourself first before you help others). Once you've done that, you can start to lead your followers. If you can engage with your employees, the chances increase that they will become productive and stay. Then you can lead others (both internal and external to your organisation).

Your profitability depends on those that lead your teams and how successful they are in these 5 areas: culture, engagement, customer retention, connection to the mission, and leadership alignment.
